About the Alliance

The nonprofit Comedy Alliance of Tucson dba Tucson Comedy Alliance
aims to collaboratively grow a healthy environment for
expansion in Tucson's comedy economy.

We started this group December 2017, engaging people at the City of Tucson, venue owners friendly to our art form, representative entrepreneurial stand-up comedians and related performing arts organizations (Tucson Improv Movement, Unscrewed Theatre, the Fringe Festival and FST/Odyssey storytelling).

From that group’s discussions, three main objectives emerged to support the mission. Those were to host a festival or crawl; conduct a branding and promotion program for Tucson’s awesome comedy scene; and develop a (Best Practices) program to help comedians understand the business and professional aspects essential to their growth.

Linda Ray, Founding Executive Director

A member of Tucson Improv Movement, and a sometime standup comedian and storyteller, Linda Ray continues to try to retire from a long career in public relations, entertainment journalism, association management and regional and national marketing. She has a BA in Education from the University of Arizona and an MBA from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. but believes she learned almost everything she needs to know from six years working with Cele Peterson and two years selling Girl Scout Cookies.

"These days some laughs are a tonic the community, if not the country needs.  I'm happy to help promote however the group feels I can best assist."
